a story to tell...

{grungy but it was from today!}

"By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through Him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see."
Acts 3:16

Today we have tried to keep busy because today marked two years since our lives were forever changed! We went to my lil bro and dad's football scrimmage, the grocery store, home for my bro-in-law to put up a rail, swim and then have dinner with Ben and one of my good friends and her lil baby! It has been a LONG two years but what I know is that these past few years have been full of growth and best of all MIRACLES! Not many people can say that they get to see a miracle at work right in front of their eyes every day!
Ben and I will not give up on this fight for healing and restoration! We are both determined to beat this brain injury and get as far as we can! I beleive there are more miracles to come!
Like I said this journey has been a HARD and LONG one. The have been bad times, times of fear, anger, discontentment, emotions, jealousy, disappointments, longevity and so many other things the Ben and I have been through but we are making it and moving forward. We can only trust in Jesus and put one foot in front of the other just to get into the next day!
I am so proud and humbled by my man! Ben is strong and determined to never surrender to this. He works so HARD every single day and it blows me away. Yes, he too has his down times! We are human too! Last night was an emotional night for me just because I knew what today held. I was kissing him goodnight and he was kind of restless. I asked him if he was ok and he said, "yes, but are you ok?" I remember that he used to do this when we went to bed. It was another piece of Ben coming back to me and another reminder that God is still with us and is still working!
Yesterday we were floating around in our pool (we have been having beautiful weather) and we just started taking turns on what we were greatful to the Lord for...the list went on for quite some time! It was pretty amazing as we floated and looked at God's creation that reminded us of His promises!

We want to thank you for following us on our journey! Each comment you write and prayer that is said is so inspiring to us! We have so many followers both officially and those that just read! It amazes me every day! I wish that I could go to each of your blogs, comment and stay up with y'all but it is so hard! My inbox is full of amazing emails as well! Please continue to write us on here or snail mail and send us all those lovely packages...we like them too!! Please continue to PRAY for both Ben and I as we continue on to another year of recovery and miracles! Please continue to follow our journey...

I heard this song the other day and thought of our life as it has been so far. It did start with a kiss, well kind of, and it is not how we dreamt it would be. We want to know how it ends. We continue to have a story to tell. That story to tell is the work that Jesus is doing in our lives! He is the Healer, He is our strength, He is our Hope and He will get us through!

"Happily Ever After"
Let me riddle you a ditty, it’s just an itty bitty, little thing on my mind.
About a boy and a girl, trying to take on the world one kiss at a time.
Now the funny thing about, ain’t a story without it, but the story is mine.
And I wish you could say, that it ended just fine.
We all want to know, how it ends.

Oh, happily ever after, wouldn’t you know, wouldn’t you know.
Oh, skip to the ending, who’d like to know, I’d like to know.
Author of the moment, can you tell me, do I end up, do I end up happy?

Inhale, breathe steady, exhale, like you’re ready, if you’re ready or not.
Just a boy and a girl trying to take on the world, and we want to get caught.
In the middle of a very happy ending, let’s see what we’ve got, let’s give it a shot.
Let’s give it a shot.
We all want to know, how it ends.

Oh, happily ever after, wouldn’t you know, wouldn’t you know.
Oh, skip to the ending, who’d like to know, I’d like to know.
Author of the moment, can you tell me, do I end up, do I end up happy?

We all have a story to tell.
Whether we whisper or yell.
We all have a story, of adolescence and all it’s glory.
We all have a story to tell.

Oh, happily ever after, wouldn’t you know, wouldn’t you know.
Oh, skip to the ending, who’d like to know, I’d like to know.
Author of the moment, can you tell me, do I end up, do I end up happy?

We all have a story to tell.
We all have a story to tell.
We all have a story to tell.
We all have a story to tell.
He is We

Ben and Katie,
You two are the blessing to us. Meeting you through your blog, and following your fight to gain your life back has been a true blessing for me. I've taken a long hard look at our fight with cancer and my attitude is so different after following your story. I'm not scared now. My husband fights this disease with all he has, and while I have always been supportive I have also been scared. Now I turn to God and I trust in God, and my fears no longer win.

Last night we watched "Soul Surfer" and Bethany Hamilton reminded me of Ben the way she fought back to surf again, and her faith in God to make it all possible. I don't know if yo all enjoy watching movies together, but if you do I highly suggest this movie.

Philippians 4:13
I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Haven't we had the best weather? I love to be outside and this past week has been fabulous :)

Blessings, Mari

I see something in Ben's eyes. I saw it in the last picture too. I believe it is healing. This coming year is going to be full of gifts for you two .

Just thinking of the MARKED DIFFERENCES in the "anniversaries", gets me all excited to see the "Marked Difference" Father has in store for you and Ben Next year!!! I love looking at paintings. One thing I noticed, it takes the dark colors to give it depth. That's kind of like our lives, we need the dark moments to give us depth. It will be wonderous to see the finished paintings or your and Ben's lives. I love you, Marion

I agree with Paula :0) The pictures of Ben now are starting to look more like the pictures of him before the accident. Thank you both for your example of how to go through this life in a way that honors God. You are an inspiration to me and countless other people. Blessings!

Katie, I'm loving Ben's smile as I know you are too! It's looking awesome!!! Last night when I was thinking about the day it was for you two, I thought about where Ben was last year at this point and then of course thought about where Cale will be on our two year mark...God is doing so much. What amazes me constantly is that He doesn't have to do any of it! Our two men are the strongest out there! With each day that passes, they come back to us a little more. Love you and praying!

I, too, saw a new sparkle in Ben's eyes in today's pic ... a new more "normal" look.

I absolutely BELIEVE that the Lord will continue to work miracles and that Ben will be HEALED.

You two have an amazing testimony of God's love, God's strength, God's power, God's healing. He will use BOTH of you to minister for HIS glory for many years to come.

Hope your weekend has been BLESSED (despite the memories of the 2 year anniv.)

Laurel :)

Thanks for you updates. You two look great and I noticed in photo that Ben is looking better, agreeing with another comment above. Keep on doing what you are doing and working at recovering. My dear friend, Tamara, stands by her husband who has horrible back issues. They love each other so much. They go on little trips. Just this past week they wanted to buy a walker for their trip to the coast. Well, I gave them one from our garage, that my mom used to use. She has a different one in nursing home so this one was gathering dust and hopefully he used it for more mobility and sit down time, since it has a seat. We do what we can for our friends who are caring for their spouse. God bless you and am praying for you both. Hugs and have a blessed week!

Hello friend. I know this time of year is always a little tougher, but so thankful that God brings you the peace you need to make it through each day. Love ya!

I'd love to write some sweet and encouraging comment but I'm too distracted by Bens great smile in that pic! :)
