ben's room...

"I’m here. I love you. I don’t care if you need to stay up crying all night long, I will stay with you. There’s nothing you can ever do to lose my love. I will protect you until you die, and after your death I will still protect you.
I am stronger than depression and I am braver than loneliness
and nothing will ever exhaust me." EG

I left you all saying that I was off to the airport to pick up my mom! We had a great time together and built some good memories! I will post picks soon!
Ben has been doing great in his therapies! He has already accomplished 3 goals in OT and continues to move forward! They are working on the same things and adding more and more! I love how the push him hard and there is no slacking involved! I think Ben notices the difference as well!
Today I got to him a bit later then normal since I had to drop my mom off and I went back to sleep. When I walked on to his floor he was right there at the elevator walking himself! He walked from the gym to his room, had a quick break in a REAL chair, he then walked back to the gym, climbed some stairs and walked back again to his room! He did awesome! I asked him if I could go with him before walking back to the gym and he said, "no!" I was quite surprised by his response and asked him why! All his said is, "cuz!" Booo me! I asked if I could sneak in towards the end to see what he was doing and he said yes to this! I guess he remembered the analogy I explained to him about how his therapies were like going to work and I couldn't go with him!! I didn't think he would catch on that quick, proud of him but it came way to quick for me! I can always try again tomorrow!
I could go on and on about how well he is doing but then I won't be able to stop! I will hopefully be taking photos soon of Ben in action again! I have to get a verbal yes from the administrator here for privacy issues adn then I can capture some moments when I go sneek a peek!
Here are a few photos of Ben's room! I will post more of what things look like for me and the gym he is in as soon as I get some photos. This will give you a visual of where we hang!

Ben saying of the day...I was making Ben practice crazy things with his voice today and when I asked him if he wanted me to do anything crazy he said, "stand on your feet!" I did and then I said, "that's it?" His response, "now give me kisses!"

Dear One, I think Ben's not letting you come with him shows you how far he has come. Praise God for that. Father has some amazing gifts ahead for you. I am so delighted you had such a good time with your mom. Many blessings, Marion

Sounds like Ben is enjoying his new-found independence in therapies. It must be so hard for anyone, but especially a guy like Ben, to be so dependent so suddenly. Good for you to give him this respect and freedom. You're a good wife and friend to your man, Katie!

Just wanted to let you know and Ben know I just read your entire blog, start to finish are you guys are both amazing people. Katie your strength and courage through everything is astonishing and truly inspiring. And Ben, you are the ultimate fighter and survivor. May you continue to get better everyday and make strides to going home! You show such love and compassion towards each other and the lord, and it is clear where much of your daily strength comes from. I always say, the lord does not put obstacles in our way to ultimately hurt us, he puts them in our way to see how we will react and come out a better person on the other side. I just realized I have spent the past couple hours reading your blog, and not studying for my finals tomorrow, but thats okay. You are amazing people and I am so glad I got a glimpse in to your life. May you continue to fight and gain strength everyday. Sending love and prayers your way from Purdue.

Katie, You do not know me, but my husband knows Ben from Ft. Benning. I have been reading your blog for sometime now and haven't posted, because I wasn't sure what to write. I am still at a loss of what to say. I pray for you and your strength. I pray for Ben's complete recovery. I just wanted you to know that I still check for posts everyday and I am thinking about you and Ben.
