"The LORD Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand." (Isaiah 14:24)
"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
If I thought last week was busy well, this week has it beat and it is only Monday! This past weeked was super busy as well although very good!
Saturday was spent getting all of our earthly belongings in a U-Haul and getting them to the house! I left the boys at the storage unit to load because I am sure they didn't want me around barking orders! I went to the house, clicked the garage door opener and nothing! The garage door didn't budge! I couldn't help but get a little furious! I had a truck load of stuff and boys to unload and I couldn't even get in the house! After a few phone calls, sitting at my brothers house a neice showed up, we found an unlocked window (that is now securely locked) and she opened the door! Awwww...the moving could continue! The rest of the day went smoothly and I forgot how much stuff we had and it really isn't that much! It was so good to see it all again though! It has been over a year in storage and not being able to use or see any of it! The rest of the day was unpacking the kitchen and putting things together! Thankfully Ben had therapies for a few hours so that kept him busy. It is hard to be away from him during these times but I know it has to be done! He seems to understand and that is good! I did sneak in the morning before going to the house and I found him busy on this...
{Ben always has liked his biking! He was on a very high resistance and did amazing!}
Sunday I made up for leaving Ben the whole day! At the last minute I asked the doc if we could get a day pass to take Ben to the house! They said yes!! After lunch I took Ben over and showed him the house! The first thing he saw was his boat and he took a deep breath! He also said that it was good to see it and he couldn't wait to take it out on the water! Since it was a beautiful day (low 70's) Ben rolled out to the porch to get some sun and fresh air! He was out there for over 2 hours!! He didn't want to come in! I asked him several times and he kept saying no! They great thing is that were he sat was right in front of 2 sliding doors at the house! One was to the master bedroom where I was putting together a bedside table and the other to the dining room where dad was painting! It was great all but when I asked Ben to help me he said no because he was soaking in some rays! Stinker!
After soaking in his sun rays Ben was ready to come inside! After almost 2 years Ben was able to sit in his lazy boy couch! I have been trying to put a bug in his ear to get rid of them but still to this day he says no! He sat on the couch and stretched out his body and said, "awwwww, I am the king of this house!" I laughed pretty hard on that one!
the start to our bedroom! It is a work in progress but it will come...
Monday I was able to sit in on Ben's ST session and I really enjoyed it! He did really well and worked so hard! His memory is so much better! Even when we were driving yesterday to the house he was able to tell me things looked familiar and where our church and my brother lives! That is long term memory but even today when his ST was aking about the house, where it was and all Ben was able to share most things about the house and even the road it was off and I hadn't even told him! God is doing something in my man's body and life! As I was listening to this I had goosebumps and was so happy! Inside I was just shouting praises to our Jesus!
I took off to the house after Ben's ST and organized alot more! I got alot done which was good but at one point when my sister was there I got very overwhelmed! I was thinking of everything that had to get done and I just started crying as I was telling her everything! Yup, I lost it! I am so super excited to bring my man home and I just wish I could snap my finger like Mary Poppins and have it all done! I told Ben later that I cried and he asked why. I told him why and he said, "I wish I could help you! It is ok, I am here for you!" The LOrd knows how I am feeling too and puts those very special words that I need in Ben's heart for him to say to me!
Later tonight I hit up Target for cleaning supplies and a few other house things! We gave away alot of that stuff because some could not be moved by the moving company and others I knew would just be in storage. Up next is grocery shopping. Again since I knew everything would be in storage I gave everything away from canned foods to spices! I think we have a few cans of soup, a few things of coconut milk, goldfish and a box of cereal! Usually I love grocery shopping but I dread this one due to the $$$ amount that will loom over me at the end of it! I would so love to raid those extreme couponers stashes for the essentials! But who am I to complain! The Lord has BLESSED us beyond our asking and I am greatful that I can even go out and buy these things!
I have been hearing a song lately by Rascal Flats! I love their music so much that one year I drove with some peeps 8 hours to a concert and then 8 hours back that night! Yes, 16 hours of driving in one day for a 2 hour concert! Totally worth it!
Anyways there is a new song called, I Won't Let Go. I like to think that I am this song for Ben as he walks through this hard road. While I am this song to Ben I long for him to be like this for me. I know he wants to as well but he just can't due to where he is in life right now. As I kept hearing this song I soon started hearing Jesus singing it to me. He was saying He stands by me, He will help me through, He will dry my eyes, He will fight my fight and hold me tight! What amazing words to hear from the Heavenly Father! Such a sweet moment that was! Ben could never take the place of the relationship I have with Jesus but I know one day Ben will be able to again do these things for me! I still long to cry in Ben's arms and hear him comfort me. I long for him to stand tall by me with no help and hug me the way he did before! I long for him to be there for me, like no other human can do! Miss my man so much but it helps knowing that my Heavenly Father is there to do all the above and so much more!
Listen to the words! It is quite an amazing song full or love, life, motivation, fearlessness, determination, wisdom, love, sweetness and the list goes on!

Your honesty and faith are so strong. You are a great example to all of us.
I'm so glad you two are back! Your bed set is gorgeous... we still don't have one! Where is it from?
I am a follower who found you through Amber @ Goodnight Moon. I think you are doing an amazing job with what life has thrown at you. This song is amazing & I love that you put Jesus in as the lead singer- makes so much sense. We are in your area & I am an Army wife- so if you need another Army wife for anything let me know.I know sometimes only another Army Wife will do in certain situations.
Congratulations on the new home- it is never easy to do a move with out your soldier to help. But as we know with God all things are possible.
I am reminded of a scene from the movie "Ghost" with Patrick Swayzie (sp?). Anyway, there was a scene when they moved into their new, uptown, apartment and the girl wanted to get rid of his "ratty" looking chair. He said "NO!, I love that chair". I think it's a guy thing, having a favorite piece of furniture, that fits them. I am excited you are almost done with your new house. Father is good. I continue to trust Father for both you and Ben. Love, Marion I enjoyed the song. Thank YOU for sharing.
Katie,
You are doing great. I totally understand the emotion of it all. Based on the circumstances, you are normal! After almost 4 years, I still have my moments. God is good all the time, but sometimes we just have to have our moments to release what is going through our minds. We know God is in control; we know He has a plan; We know He will provide; but it still can be overwhelming at times. We just moved again for the third time in less than four years. It is never easy, especially while being a 24/7 caregiver.
Praying,
Vicky
First, your room is beautiful! Love your bed frame, the exact one I've been wanting.
2nd, I'm still amazed when I read your posts. I can't imagine how overwhelmed you are and yet you still are able to be strong. (we all need to break down once in awhile).
Love Rascal Flatts and that song is perfect! I pray one day Ben will be able to hold you just like you long for.
Ahh katie this is so exciting for you to finally being able to get settled and start a somewhat normalcy of life (relatively speaking). Ben has come soo far and I CANNOT WAIT to see what else he has in store for him. Your bedroom suite is beautiful! I cannot imagine how tough it is on you doing this alone but God's strength is within you and with that you can do anything!
Katie,
You are so amazing. I love reading your blog. You are always glorifying God. You are such an amazing servant of God. Thanks for always sharing your stories. I love the bed. So excited that you are getting so close to having your man home with you.
I don't care for country but, I really love Rascal Flats! How could I not love that voice:)
My hubby and I pray for you guys often and you are in my thoughts a lot. I can only imagine how badly you want your hubby to hold you and comfort you. I am so glad that you know Jesus though because he is the greatest comforter and I know he is watching out for you in all this. You are an amazing gal Katie. Really, I'd love to meet you, hug you and tell you how awesome I think you are in person! Your room is beautfiul by the way! I bet it feels good to have a place to settle into after so long!
So glad Ben got some sunshine! Jetta said his face was a little crispy and she asked him how he got so much sun! (hey, Jetta is also totally into the coupon thing... but you have to make so many shopping stops to really take advantage of them, from what I hear.) Love the video. I would imagine that feels so good to Ben to just get muscles moving in a mighty way every so often. Congrats on the new home. Pretty soon it will actually FEEL like home, YEA!!!
So happy you are back home and will have family close by and I look forward to the day you will be posting Ben held you in his arms. God is doing a good work and it will be completed with Ben being healed. You are a very strong young lady and I pray for continued strength for you.
Thank you for sharing your blogs with us.
Love & Prayers, Wanda
I love the pictures of your house-- you have great style! Do you remember where your comforter/duvet came from? It's beautiful!
Welcome home, Ben! I am so glad you are both under one roof!
@ workinprogress...the duvet cover is from Target. It has a simple diamond stitching to it. The yellow print at the end is just fabric I ordered. i want to make it into a bed runner but until then it will be draped! :)
